On Sunday, February 9, 2025, HRM, Oba Prof. Saka Adelola Matemilola, Oluyalo Otileta VII, the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Abeokuta, received Dr. Dayo Israel, Chairman of the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, and the National Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), accompanied by his team, as they commenced a familiarization visit to the kingdom.
The purpose of this visit was to explore ways to enhance adequate healthcare for the people of Owu and Abeokuta at large.

Solace Foundation’s Stakeholders Meeting.
On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, the Solace Foundation led by Olori Ameenah Adeleye Matemilola, kicked off 2025 with a strategic meeting at the Olowu of Owu Palace, Abeokuta.
The meeting was facilitated by HRM, Oba Prof. Saka Matemilola, and focused on the foundation’s plans for 2025 in collaboration with key organizations.
Key Areas of Focus include; improving education standards, waste management, wealth creation, security and drug abuse awareness, environmental advocacy, support for persons with disabilities, and health and HIV advocacy.
To achieve these goals, several stakeholders including representatives from the Owu Youth Forum made key commitments.
Mrs. Ronke Soyombo, Special Adviser on Education, emphasized the need to strengthen the teaching of Mathematics and English, organize career days, and provide access to physiotherapists for special-needs students.
Ms. Jumoke Olowookere pledged to train residents and students on waste management and conversion into wealth.
The Police Community Relation Committee (PCRC) leadership called for enhanced security measures and sensitization programs to discourage children from engaging in illicit activities.
The meeting set a robust foundation for Solace Foundation’s impactful projects, underscoring a collective commitment to advancing societal well-being starting from Owu Kingdom.

NDLEA Ogun Command Visits Olowu of Owu to Strengthen Collaboration on Drug Abuse Advocacy.
On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, the Ogun State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) paid a courtesy visit to HRM, the Olowu of Owu Kingdom.
The purpose of the visitation was to strengthen their partnership in advocating against drug abuse in Ogun State. The visit was led by State Commander CN Tijjani Rabe.
Olowu emphasized that poverty and economic factors drive individuals to substance abuse, highlighting the need for empowerment initiatives, mental health programs, and legitimate alternatives to assist affected individuals. He urged the NDLEA to collaborate with organizations and stakeholders to combat drug abuse, stressing the importance of mutual partnerships in eradicating drug-related challenges.
The NDLEA team expressed commitment to working closely with the Owu Kingdom and stakeholders to ensure a drug-free society in Ogun State.
