Olowu of Owu Abeokuta Commissions Educational Projects in Owu Kingdom!

On Wednesday, September 4, 2024, HRM, Oba Prof. Saka Adelola Matemilola, Oluyalo Otileta VII, the Olowu of Owu, Abeokuta commissioned two educational projects sponsored by Alhaji Chief Bakai Ajao Okedara, the Aare Alasa of Owu Kingdom to commemorate his 70th birthday celebration!

The projects include:

1. A newly renovated 8-classrooms block & public toilets at Abeokuta North Local Government Primary School, Oke Ago-Owu, Abeokuta.

2. A newly constructed & fully furnished 3-classrooms block at Olomore Community Primary School, Olomore, Abeokuta.

OWU KINGDOM AND BELGIUM TO PARTNER ON YOUTH EMPOWERMENT, AGRICULTURE, AND EDUCATION .

On Saturday, August 24, 2024, HRM, Oba Prof. Saka Adelola Matemilola, Oluyalo Otileta VII, the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Abeokuta, welcomed a delegation from Belgium led by Ambassador Pieter Leenknegt; the Belgian Ambassador to Nigeria.

The delegation included businessmen Oscar Gilliot and Andy Lienafa of Transfood Africa Ltd, Genco Sanli, Financial Advisor to the Ambassador, and Chief "Bobasanya of Ososa Kingdom" Ijebuland.

The Belgian delegation expressed interest in exploring potential collaborations with Owu Kingdom in various areas, including: Youth empowerment through diplomacy and contract agreement training, Agricultural development; particularly in palm oil production, Tertiary education collaborations with institutions, Community relationships and cultural exchange programs.

In his remarks, HRM, the Olowu of Owu highlighted his vision for humanity development, focusing on: Empowerment and infrastructure development, Poverty alleviation and self-sufficiency in agriculture.

Both parties are working towards a potential partnership to drive growth, self-sufficiency, and sustainable development in the region.

Olowu of Owu Abeokuta Advocates for Revitalization of Reading Culture at 2024 Children Summer Reading Camp.

On Thursday, August 8, 2024, HRM Oba Prof. Saka Adelola Matemilola, Oluyalo Otileta VII, the Olowu of Owu Abeokuta, visited the 2024 Children Summer Reading Camp, organized by the SixthSense Initiative founded and coordinated by Chief Abiodun Lasile, the Orunto of Owu Kingdom.

During his address, HRM appealed to the government, corporate bodies, and individuals to prioritize efforts to revitalize the reading culture among Nigerian children.

He emphasized the urgent need for collective action to prevent the extinction of reading culture and encouraged the children to embrace reading as a means to enhance their personal, social, and academic growth, as well as their overall wellbeing.

The event was attended by notable guests, including Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, Wife of the Ogun State Governor, and Dr. Olaogun Soyinka, representing Nobel Laureate Professor Wole Soyinka.

On Tuesday, August 6, 2024, HRM Oba Prof. Saka Adelola Matemilola, Oluyalo Otileta VII, the Olowu of Owu, Abeokuta, attended the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Nigeria Annual International Conference and Exhibition (NAICE2024) as a Special Guest of Honour at the Grand Ballroom, Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The conference, themed "Petroleum Industry Value Chain Optimization: The Inevitability of Midstream and Downstream Development," featured a Women Leadership Program (WLP) on the sub-theme "Equality by Design: Formulating Leadership Strategies to Ensure Gender Inclusivity in the Petroleum Value Chain.

HRM, the Olowu of Owu presented a Goodwill Message on the sub-theme, emphasizing the importance of diverse leadership in the midstream and downstream sectors.

Through insightful discussions, the panel highlighted the benefits of diverse leadership and inspired practical measures to achieve equality in leadership roles.
