The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Olanrewaju Ogunlowo, paid a courtesy visit to the Olowu of Owu, Oba Prof. Saka Adelola Matemilola. During the visit, CP Ogunlowo commended the Olowu for his efforts in enhancing security within the Owu Kingdom and expressed the police command’s commitment to maintaining law and order across Ogun State.
In response, Oba Matemilola appreciated the CP’s visit and highlighted the establishment of an Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanism within the community. This ADR serves as a local forum where disputes are amicably resolved before being forwarded to the court in Isabo for formal endorsement. The Olowu noted that at least 20 cases have been successfully settled through this initiative.
The monarch emphasized that while the government holds the primary responsibility for ensuring security, law, and order, traditional institutions play a crucial role in reinforcing these efforts by encouraging responsible behavior among citizens. This collaboration has fostered a strong relationship between the Nigeria Police Force in Ogun State and the Owu Kingdom, contributing to a safer environment for all.
