In a ceremony steeped in tradition and royal grandeur, Engr. Chief Oluwatoyin Jokosenumi was on Thursday conferred with the revered chieftaincy title of Bada of Owu Kingdom, marking his formal elevation to one of the kingdom’s traditional positions.
Presiding over the ceremony was His Royal Majesty, the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba (Prof.) who offered prayers and royal blessings to the newly installed chief. In his brief address, Kabiesi charged Jokosenumi to uphold the honor and legacy of the Owu people, urging him to continue championing the kingdom’s goodwill and development.
The occasion drew an illustrious crowd of political and diplomatic dignitaries, underlining the significance of the investiture. Among those present were Nigeria’s former President and Balogun of Owu Kingdom, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo; former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun; and former Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Chief Tunji Sarafa Ishola.
Also in attendance were prominent community leaders including Chief Doja Adewolu, traditional titleholders, and members of the Owu royal council. The event, held at the Olowu courtyard, echoed with cultural pageantry, chants, and tributes to Owu’s enduring heritage.
Engr. Jokosenumi, a seasoned engineer, expressed deep gratitude for the honor and pledged his unwavering service to the Owu Kingdom. ”This is not just a title, it is a call to duty. I stand ready to serve my people with dignity, innovation, and unwavering commitment,” he stated.
As drums rolled and the crowd cheered, the ceremony marked yet another chapter in the continuous affirmation of Yoruba traditional leadership, where legacy meets responsibility, and community remains at the heart of honor in Owu kingdom.
